Chinese Astrology – Feng Shui<\/p>\n

There is an ongoing craze towards Feng Shui for the past five years and there have been much deliberations, discussions in India and abroad on this subject. An Indian Astrologer, who used to feel honoured and lucky if his name was prefixed with the ‘Jyotishacharya’ title but now the same astrologer feels more honoured if the title ‘Vaastu Shastra’ is prefixed to his name. During the last five years so many books on Vaastu Shastra have been published on the subject, that the books written on other subjects have been relegated to the background.<\/p>\n

A new word ‘ Feng Shui’ has appeared in many books written on Vaastu Shastra and has gained much ground. After all, what is implied by ‘Feng Shui’ and how and in what way is it related, if at all, to Vaastu Shastra? I receive so many letters daily where I have been asked many a times as to which out of the two sciences is more precise, authentic, to the point and reliable, and also which of the two is more useful. People are now demanding a solution to this confused state of affairs, that is, whether the removal of delects, suggested in the Vaastu Shastra, is akin to these solutions suggested to circumvent and remove defects. Shri Narencler Kumar, Managing Director of Diamond Pocket Books, has been insisting upon me to write an authentic book on Feng Shui, each in Hindi and English. Many books written in foreign languages by the foreign writers, are available on the book selling counters in the International airports but due to their high prices the aspirants are unable to purchase them.My book titled ‘Feng Shui- Chinese Vaastu’, will hopefully fill in this void. I feel privilaged to present this book to the discerning readers and earnestly hope it will meet their requirements and purpose. It is due to benign kindness of Goddess Saraswati that I have been able to complete this book for the general welfare of the readers. What arc the leading similarities or variations between Vaastu Shastra and Feng Shui? Which of these two sciences is more apt and precise and to what extent? I feel I have been provided with an opportunity to express my views in reasonable details, to satisfy inquisitiveness and apprehensions of Almost all the principles in the Indian Vaastu Shastra and Chinese Feng Shui are identical, except, of course, that Chinese consider the South direction is auspicious, while in India this side is considered as ominous. The Chinese consider it auspicious to have a fountain, plantations, fish-houses, water reservoirs in the South-east direction, whereas a southern door is considered as ominous in the south direction, though Chinese consider an entry gate on this side as auspicious. Both the said principles of Feng Shui do not fit Indian Vaastu Shastra’s slot, and herein lies the basic difference between the two sciences. Though we notice these glaring variations, but it is actually not so, because the climatic factors are totally at variance in both the countries, hence such a variable and opposite approach.
\nAll the rivers world-over flow from North to South. The Himalaya is situated in the Northern side of India and Ganga and Mahanadi rivers originate from the Himalayas. Dead bodies are burnt in the South direction, because Lord Hanuman had burnt Lanka, situated in the South. South direction is called a vacant site hence it should be left open\/vacant- this is the reason behind considering southern direction as an ominous\/unauspicious side. I went to Egypt during September-October, 2000. Entire Egypt is dependent on the waters of Nile river, because there is hardly any rain in this region. A near-famine state is always present, there are earthquakes, dust raising winds blow and majority of typhoons occur in spring season. 95 % of the land area is manifested by desert, farming is done on 2 % area of land and the rest 3 % is residential area. Nile river is the only source of subsistence for the Egyptians and it is a boon for them. But the Nile river, unlike the Ganges flows from South to East direction, but the former provides greenery to six countries-this might be the reason why south has been described as an auspicious direction in some of the Western countries. So, Vaastu of each region and country is dependant on its climate and that is why variable measuring stick are applied by each country in relation to Vaastu. Hence, an expert Vaastu scholar should keep all the said fectors mind.<\/p>\n
